Save the Bees started as a campaign in 2019 and has now grown into a whole movement with bee rescuers all around Sweden. The reason for the initiative is, as is well known, that a third of our 270 wild bee species are on the verge of extinction as a direct result of pollution, food shortages and climate change. To help curb the negative development, Sandqvist has developed a bag where 20€ per sold bag goes to the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation’s initiative. Even the smallest change can make a difference. We want to encourage planting for example meadow seeds that will lead to more food for the bees. Sandqvist has always had nordic landscapes and sustainability in focus when developing products. Sandqvist works with recycled materials or organic cotton, which strengthens the biological diversity.
“Our main source of inspiration has always been nature and the nordic landscapes. Growing up in a small village in Sweden the meadows and forests were always teaming with life, insects and flowers. Nowadays, just the sight of a bee feels like a rare thing. This needs to change. We need biodiversity, we need sustainable farming and foresting, and we need bees. We can all do something to help.” says Daniel Sandqvist
